Immigration advisers, paralegals and administrative support staff working on asylum claims can use the Manage asylum claim online service to upload documents, according to guidance updated on 12 August 2026.

Key facts

  • Who: Immigration advisers, paralegals and administrative support staff working on asylum claims
  • From: 12 August 2026 (date the guidance was updated)
  • Source: Manage asylum claim

The guidance page for the Manage asylum claim service was updated on 12 August 2026 to say that the service can now be used to upload documents.

The guidance describes the service as one for immigration advisers to download and upload files relating to asylum claims. Immigration advisers can use it for claims they are working on. Paralegals and administrative support staff can also use it.

The guidance says advisers can continue to manage asylum claims through email and post.

The service cannot be used to claim asylum. The guidance points people who want to claim to its separate page on how to claim asylum in the UK.

A new user needs an invite before they can create an account.

  • Immigration advisers: email a letter of authority to ahrocentralcommunicationshub@homeoffice.gov.uk, using the subject line "MAC Portal" so that it reaches the right team. The team that issues invites cannot give information about individual asylum claims.
  • Paralegals and support staff: an immigration adviser in the same organisation who already has an account can create an account for them.

To create an account, a user needs their own work email address and a mobile phone number.

What this means for immigration advisers and support staff

Immigration advisers, paralegals and support staff who work on asylum claims can use the service to upload files as well as download them. Those without an account must first get an invite: advisers by emailing a letter of authority, and paralegals and support staff through an adviser in their organisation who already has an account.

Email and post can still be used to manage asylum claims. The service cannot be used to make an asylum claim.
