Updated guidance for Study sponsors using the priority change of circumstances service says follow-on CAS allocation requests need the further information-CAS request form. The guidance was updated on 29 September 2026.

The guidance, "Study priority change of circumstance service", lets sponsors prioritise certain requests each day by submitting an application by email. Follow-on Certificate of Sponsorship (CAS) allocation requests are among the eligible request types. The others are adding a new level 1 user, changing a level 1 user, replacing or amending the authorising officer (AO) or key contact (KC), and appointing or amending a representative.
Section 2 sets out the follow-on CAS condition. Sponsors must submit the further information-CAS request form for any follow on CAS requests. The guidance states that the new CAS allocation year will be effective from the date of decision, and that any unused CAS allocation remaining from the previous allocation will be removed.
The other eligibility conditions are also in section 2. The sponsor must have submitted the request through the sponsorship management system (SMS) before emailing the priority mailbox. The request must not be in progress or allocated to a caseworker. The sponsor must submit a fully completed application and must not have an open basic compliance assessment application (BCA).
The fee is £350 per request. After a successful request, the sponsor receives an acceptance email and a second email with a Worldpay link. Payment must be made within 72 hours of the second email, including weekends, or the request expires.
Eligible requests that have been paid for are considered within 5 working days, starting the working day after payment. The guidance says the service does not guarantee approval. Moved premises under "Update organisation details" will not be accepted on the priority service.
What this means for applicants
A sponsor asking for a follow-on CAS allocation through the priority service must submit the further information-CAS request form, after first submitting the change on SMS. The guidance says the new CAS allocation year is effective from the date of decision and that unused CAS allocation remaining from the previous allocation will be removed.
A request that does not meet the eligibility conditions may not be successful. If the sponsor receives no response, the guidance says to assume the request has not been successful.
