About UK Visa News

UK Visa News explains changes to UK immigration rules, guidance, fees and case law for applicants, sponsors, employers and their advisers. Every item names its primary source and links to the UK Visa Blog guide it affects.

What we cover

  • Rules & Policy: Statements of Changes to the Immigration Rules, Bills and Home Office policy announcements.
  • Guidance: changes to caseworker, sponsor and employer guidance that alter what people must do.
  • Cases: Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Upper Tribunal and High Court judgments on immigration.
  • Statistics: Home Office and ONS immigration figures, with the exact numbers from each release.
  • Fees & Forms: fee changes, new and withdrawn forms, and processing times.
  • Parliament & MAC: written ministerial statements, Bill stages and Migration Advisory Committee reports.

How each item is made

We read the official record every working day: GOV.UK publications and their change histories from UK Visas and Immigration, the Home Office, Border Force, Immigration Enforcement and the Migration Advisory Committee; judgments from the National Archives’ Find Case Law service; and written statements to Parliament. An item is written only from the source document, then checked against it for dates, numbers, route names and wording before it is published. Each item carries the date of the change itself, so the archive reads in the order things happened.

A Change item records something that alters what an applicant, sponsor, employer or landlord must do, with the date it takes effect. A Report covers statistics, consultations, announcements and judgments of wider interest.

What we do not do

We do not give legal advice, forecast policy or comment on politics. Our items summarise official sources in plain English; the linked source is always the authority. For advice on your own case, speak to a qualified adviser.

UK Visa Blog guides
